Growing up in Santa Barbara, California, Karen Kane had a love affair with clothes.  As a young girl, she knew her future held a career in fashion design.  After graduating high school and receiving a degree in fashion design, she was on her way.

In the late 1970’s, Karen met her future husband and business partner, Lonnie.  In 1979 they married and started Karen Kane, Inc. in their garage.  As the years paseed they had 2 sons, Michael & Robert, and watched their company grow.  Over 25 years later, Karen Kane Inc. has expanded to a 150,000 square foot facility in Los Angeles that employs over 200 people and distributes clothes around the world.

A quote from Karen:  “A woman needs simple, stylish clothes because life is complicated.  As a wife, mother and professional I need to know my clothes are polished enough for work and relaxed enough for weekends, are easy to maintain, can travel with ease, and have an integrity to last a long time, not just a season or two.”

Suzi designs and develops updated silhouettes utilizing fabrics and prints which she painstakingly develops herself.  Suzi also spends an inordinate amount of time designing unique novelties that are an integral part and a trademark of her collection.  She has a great eye for color and a unique ability to mix fabrics giving the line broad market appeal.

Suzi fully designs and develops five lines each year, which translates into more than 500 dresses!  Continually developing her ideas, Suzi’s line is always fresh and responsive to the latest trends whether they come from Europe or the United States.

When she is done, each dress has its own attitude combining exclusive colors, original prints, fabrics and embellishments.  Catering to a braod market of both mother and daughter, Suzi’s dresses are a stunning combination of design, color and texture that answers the needs of today’s fashion conscience woman.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in New York City, after graduating from Parson’s School of Design, Suzi began her design career at Albert Nipon where she almost immediately became its head designer.  She spent the next 12 years at Jones Apparel Group where she was the design driector for its Anne Klein and Nine West divisions.   Her move to Maggy Boutique allowed Suzi to fulfill a lifelong dream of being the sole creative force developing and creating her own line, limited only by her imaginaition.

Suzi lives in a home overlooking the Hudson River with her husband of 15 years, two wonderful children, and her dog, Alfie.

At long last, our first shipment of Crocs sandals have arrived at The James Store. The first shipment contains Mary Jane and Prima styles. In a few days, both the Kids Caymans and Adult Caymans will begin arriving. We have a whole assortment of colors ordered, so stop in while the selection is good!

Recently we have seen a surge in the number of Columbus customers that are visiting the store during a day trip to Granville. The James Store offers a selection of boutique clothing brands for women & children that are hard to find even in a large city like Columbus, Ohio. Plus, a day trip to Granville offers great restaurants, museums, shopping– a perfect way to spend a summer afternoon.
